At Tilray, we thank our honoured veterans and see them as valued patients. On November 22, 2016, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) announced a new reimbursement policy on medical cannabis. The new policy includes several important changes which may affect many of our veterans.

Here are some key points on the new reimbursement policy:

  1. Subject to the limits below, VAC’s new policy now covers the cost of extracts. This means veterans are now able to order Tilray cannabis oil drops and we will bill VAC directly on their behalf. Tilray is proud to have been a leader in advocating for VAC insurance coverage of extracts since we began offering extracts in February 2016, and we are pleased the government has changed its policy.

  2. VAC’s new policy establishes a coverage limit of 3 grams per day for dried cannabis products or the equivalent value in cannabis oil. For are currently authorized for more than 3 grams per day, you will have until May 21, 2017 at your current allotment. If you will require more than 3 grams per day after that date, you will need to consult your physician. VAC will have an exceptional circumstances process that will require you to work with your physician to receive more than the 3 gram per day limit. We are here to assist you in navigating that process.

  3. VAC’s new policy now covers up to $8.50 per gram or the equivalent value in cannabis oil. As a show of gratitude for your service, we will be covering the difference in cost for Tilray products that are priced above $8.50 per gram or the equivalent value in cannabis oil. It is important to us that the veterans we serve have uninterrupted access to our high quality products.

We recognize the changes announced by VAC today may impact our veterans and we want them to know that we are here to offer our support. Should veterans have any questions, we have a dedicated VAC customer service representative on-staff available to assist. Either email VACsupport@tilray.ca or call 1-844-TILRAY1 (845-7291). As always, we are proud to serve veterans and are grateful for their service.
